Rush, rush, rush. Everything today is hurry, hurry, hurry.
What we need to remember, however, is that anything of quality takes time. Hurrying without ensuring quality will only produce poor results, performance gaps, and frustrated teams. Of course, we need to set expectations around realistic timelines, but we need to remember to have a certain level of patience too. Patience will minimize stress and maximize relationship building.
Talking to our teams to ensure that they have the adequate resources, support, and time to do the job right takes patience. Patient, purposeful two-way communication is key. True communication requires an intentional, dedicated level of patience to seek out an understanding of others. Open communication will help to alleviate fear, anxiety, and confusion, as well as eliminate Importance Gaps around the things that are critical to deliver.
Communication, and patience, can’t be measured in megabits per second.
Have a great week!
